I seriously don't know. If it's what I suspect, I guess it's the most ecologically sound practice, but maybe not the most hygenic.

It is gay no matter what your excuse.

People who use their hands are careful which one it is. Are people who use TP similarly careful?

Learn somethin' every day -- I always thought there was something interposed, even if it wasn't technically TP.

Nothing interposed. It's the water that does most of the cleaning, though.

But then, we're quite anal about cleaning our hands afterwards.

I still haven't understood, however, how absolute cleanness can be achieved without using water. How do you manage it?

Good point -- this concern leads to a lot of wiping related medical problems in the U.S. actually. Personally, I will not discuss my own elaborate cleaning ritual. It has taken too many years of trial, error, and skidmarks to perfect it to just give it away for free.

An exampel I saw on TV. If you fall into a big pile of poo face first, do you scrub your face with TP or do you wash it with water?

                              Dare I ask...

What TV show were you watching?

To answer the question, I'd probably do both. Wipe then wash then wipe some more.

Also, while I was more than prepared to leave the issue , my original question was about using water alone without a wiping/drying aid. I'm still not sure how I would manage to clean my rear with water and hand alone without ending up with very wet pants. Further, if a drying agent is in fact allowed, why not just interpose that agent between your rear and your hand in the first place?

                              edit: spelling

Probably both, but if you can choose only one, let me guess... water?
