Yes, America’s climate policy is immoral. But that doesn’t make China’s rapacious coal plant building moral. The N.Y. Times has published the sobering numbers, which bear repeating:

The country built 114,000 megawatts of fossil-fuel-based generating capacity last year alone, almost all coal-fired, and is on course to complete 95,000 megawatts more this year.

For comparison, Britain has 75,000 megawatts in operation, built over a span of decades.

China is now the main reason the world is recarbonizing — the carbon content of the average unit of energy produced has stopped its multi-decade decline, as noted. Yes, America is still responsible for a great deal more cumulative emissions, which is what drive concentrations, and China is doing Much of its dirty manufacturing for U.S. consumers (never said our hands were clean).

But China seems to have adopted a policy of build as many coal plants as is humanly possible until they are forced to stop — or, I suspect, until they get a deal that pays the country to shut them down (much as they have gamed the clean development mechanism under Kyoto).

Yeah, you're right - we should count ourselves lucky that the tar sands industry is so far only looking at such a small area of Canada’s forests…

How the hell can you say "Bollocks to your bull**** propaganda" while you quote **** like that RIGHT above it? Have you no shame? You even quote it from an advocacy group/hippy organization, and its wording should set off big alarms about it being propaganda.
I found that after about 2 seconds of searching from a massive list of similar articles from more respected sources and knew it was guaranteed to wind you up the most. Mission accomplished.

I just love how you can write this garbage with a straight face (not to mention supporting my arguments)…

I denied a forest the size of Florida is being destroyed.

Some are, but they're being reforested once the mining is complete.

The statement also applies to parts that WEREN'T forested, by the way. There's more to ecologies than forests. Some forests are being cut down (and the lumber used), the oil is "mined" out, then they're reforested. It's not the end of the world like you make it out to be.
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Canada is involved with the oil sands project and oil is a dirty global warming agent. As opposed to the clean and pure as the wind driven snow dirty coal burners.
