Lonestar, why are you even arguing with those two??? Its obvious from their comments that nothing reasonable will sway them.

Also that host was the weakest ***** ever. I stopped laughing at him and started feeling sorry for him because the candidates completely ignored their time limits, the host didn't even try to call them out on obvious lies and double talk, not a single candidate payed any attention to the host repeatedly say "I'm sorry but your time is up". I watched one of those *******s turn their 30 second response time into a 5 minute long monologue about nothing in proticular. Just cut the *****'s mick off already.

Well, Huckabee is a lot better than the majority of Republicans on gay issues. Even though he is protestant, he has the Catholicesk view that homosexuals aren't all evil.

Too bad this was really the wrong way to go about asking the question. The backlash on him being a plant has been pretty bad.

Huckabee supports DADT. As for other issues, Huckabee supports, i.e. the federal gay marriage amendment, which half the field actually doesn't (Giuliani, McCain, Thompson, and Paul IIRC)...

Serious question, are you stupid? You're going to bring up Clinton's 1993 budget cuts which predated the don't ask, don't tell compromise? Since you're not old enough to remember I will remind you that the cold war had ended 1.5 years before and the mood of the entire country was one of optimism and just about everyone in Congress agreed that since the cold war was over defense spending didn't need to be so high.

Does Thompson really not support that? What do we know that Thompson actually supports? He has been horrible in all debates and speeches....except for that attack on Giuliani, but I really doubt more than 10% of the people watching the debate even noticed.

Ron Paul and McCain are exceptions. Neither of them have really been able to gain momentum in the polls unfortunately, since I do like both of them more than the frontrunners.

Giuliani is really difficult to see on this issue as he has cosied up to evangelicals that don't like gays.

This is why I think Huckabee is gay friendly compared to most.

Republican fundamentalist protestant voters get to choose between a cooky Morman and a multiple divorcee Catholic. No wonder none of them seem interested in this election. Their candidates are worse then John Kerry and that's saying something.

                      (It's why I'm so jovial)

These people are just trying to come up with excuses to remain bigots. It is 100% EXACTLY the same argument the racists made in 1949-1950 as to why blacks and other non-whites shouldn't be allowed in unsegregated units.
The US military did not begin in integrate until 1951, well into the Korean War. The reason why it did so was specifically because of the repeated failure of all black units in combat. Note that integration was not initiated by the Truman administration as has often been claimed, but rather on the authority of the commander of 8th Army, Matthew Bunker Ridgway, a great man from a forgotten war.

Thats a fun game Lonestar. I put forward spending money on military trash collection cause were the resources that should have caught Walker. Prove me wrong!

That first loser claiming that most people in the Military are conservative Christians is full of ****. I was that as someone who spent 9 years in the military.
You might want to check your demographics Oerdin, as this is obviously true. Now whether they are devout or not is a better question, or whether they are Republican is a better question. There is no question whether most identify themselves as conservative and Christian.

And DADT is supported by most military members, the command stucture, and the American populace. Sorry.

It was actually a joke response to this little tidbit:

"When the previous policy was "No Gays at all, and we're going to expend resources tracking them down instead of counterintelligence"(Which is how the John Walker spy ring got away with what it did, by the way) it was a step up. "

But it's ok, I understand your anger with someone that shows the truth about their personal hero Bill Clinton.

Nobody forced him to enact the Don't ask Don't tell policy. Come to think of it nobody forced him to make any other campaign promises he couldn't keep.

Since you are obviously too uninformed to recall the 90's clearly let me remind you that Bill Clinton never made any big political moves without polling the consequences first.

Which means that he must have believed that the entire country was behind him on the DADT policy. And guess what?

                            He may have been right.

If this was such a strong issue for the Democrats and the whole country was behind eliminating the policy all this time why wasn't it a key issue in the 1996 election?

Why wasn't it a key issue in the 2000 election?

Why wasn't it a key issue in the 2004 election?

Guess what it won't even be an issue in 2008.

You better change your tone with your future responses. If you cannot respond without being insulting then don't respond at all.

My boss (a black LCDR) has a book I think titled "Buffalo Soldier" that I thumb through somtimes about black integration into the military. It mentioned that by the time of that order the Navy was largely already desegregated.

I assume it was the nature of our service. As you know during battlestations everyone is in the fight from SK to IT to FC to QM.
