Nah, if Hillery follows her husband's economic policies then we'll have a budget surplus again in a few years and the US Dollar will start going back up. It went down due to bad budget policies and will correct if we get leadership who acts responsibly.

It's Yanks who have wet dreams for it after having seen your own currency driven into the ground.

It would be good fun to have a currency backed by Canadian and Mexcian $100 per barrel oil so the idiots in Washington could go on for a few more years acting like total morons.

                  Dream on.

This entry is the total oil produced in barrels per day (bbl/day). The discrepancy between the amount of oil produced and/or imported and the amount consumed and/or exported is due to the omission of stock changes, refinery gains, and other complicating factors.

US daily oil production is higher then Canada and Mexico combined.

                          Unfortunately your consumption is 5X.

Yeah, fuel economy standards are a quarter lower then they were in 1987 and Congress doesn't seem willing to invest in light rail or medium range high speed rail so we're stuck with cars and 18 wheelers carrying most of the freight.

The coal thing is the US has the world's largest coal reserves and if oil stays where it is then it is profitable then thermal cracking becomes viable. Hello massive new oil output.

Oh, and US consumption is only about 2.7 times daily production. Increases in CAFE, shifting freight back to rail instead of on trucks, and increasing production of alternative fuels (ethanol, synthetic oil, biodisiel, etc) can reduce that figure substantially.
