Yeah, fuel economy standards are a quarter lower then they were in 1987 and Congress doesn't seem willing to invest in light rail or medium range high speed rail so we're stuck with cars and 18 wheelers carrying most of the freight.

Oh, and US consumption is only about 2.7 times daily production.
