      Not foreseeable?:
      1) Lori Drew had told a neighbourhood girl about the hoax, and the girl's mother, who asked for anonymity, said that "Lori laughed about it", adding that she would "mess with Megan". Soon after Josh insulted and turned on Megan, she killed herself.

      2) Lori Drew knew she had been prescribed antidepressant medication and that she had a MySpace page.

      3) On October 16, last year, Josh sent his final message, telling Megan the world "would be a better place" without her. .... As the crisis unfolded, Lori Drew reportedly rang the neighbourhood girl in whom she had confided, telling her to "keep her mouth shut". She did.

In the grand scheme of things what is in effect bullying by an adult upon a teen hardly sums up the depths of human cruelty
Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

Yes, very disproportionate of her. How dare she kill herself and then get two upstanding citizens fired from their jobs? The mind boggles at the audacity and the egoistic behaviour of the little girl...

...I'm going to assume you're trolling, Zoid. Good one.

DD, none of what you quoted leads me to believe that they expected this girl to kill herself. There are a lot of angsty teens out there, they tell each other they're fat sluts and should kill themselves all the time, they even threaten to kill themselves from time to time, but relatively few of them actually do so. Drew was irresponsible, but it's not like she set off a strobe light in front of an epileptic standing at the top of a flight of stairs. Emotions aren't that predictable.

Considering the comments Lori D (the mother of the daughter who invented Josh) made at least she doesn´t care too much about the fact that her and her daughters (and the other girls) actions lead to the suicide of Megan.

              See here:

Doesn´t sound to me like a person who feels guilty about the whole affair or who feels sorry for the death of the girl.

And this makes it alright? The act itself is despicable enough to warrant a public flogging IMO. Why do you blame the victim, Elok?

Lori is not an angsty teen.
She's an adult that is reponsible for the result of his actions.

It's not like she made a one time nasty remark.

She created a deliberate scheme which involved creating a fake relationship with Josh and then severing it, using (the now very much esteemed) Josh to hurt the girl.

She also supposedly knew about the range of psychological problems and depression the girl had.

She was also a f***ing adult.

While it was not pre-meditated murder, she is obviously directly responsible for the girl's death.

And as far as her losing her job - who would want to keep hiring a woman that has a mind of an angsty teen? who's to say she doesn't pull dirty tricks like that in work?

In yesterday's WaPo, at least, the other teenage girl involved confessed to making the "I hear you don't treat your friends very well" remark, apparently not to be cruel but to fish for evidence that Megan had been talking nasty about Drew's daughter. I don't see how that was supposed to work, but the girl in question has been more honest than Drew so far. It's not clear, and probably never will be, who made the "fat whore" remarks and so on. The messages are gone. I would consider it equally probable that the girl got some friends in on it and they got carried away. So I'm not going to rush to judgment. All she's clearly guilty of is creating a phony profile to milk information out of a minor, of piss-poor judgment in general, and of trying to cover it up (which is sort of understandable given the harassment she's gotten so far).

Both parents were doing pretty well at their jobs before this debacle; now they're unemployed, almost impossible to employ, and basically being stalked by crazy internet people. Oh, and Megan's parents have basically announced a vendetta. Given what she's *known* to have done, that sounds sufficient if not excessive. But we're talking angry mob justice here, so evidence be damned!

According to the aticle I read she is guilty of more.
According to this article it was herself (i.e. Lori D.) who invited the other teenagers to participate in the Scheme.
And it was because of this (i.e. because she was invited to the scheme by an adult person) that the second girl had no second thoughts about doing what she did.
So Lori definitely is guilty in creating an uncrontrollable environment for this scheme, no matter wethr it was Lori herself, her daughter or the other girl who sent the words that made Megan commit suicide.

I definitely cannot feel sorry about Lori D. She reaped what she sow.
Only for her husband as long as he didn´t know what his wife and daughter were doing.

While I find it appalling this Lori person went as far as she did, it's not alltogether supprising. The single most ruthless and vicious creature on earth is a human mother protecting her children.
