But they didn't actually do anything wrong. Why apologize when you've done nothing wrong? It's only words anyways.

It doesn't matter. If it makes the "suspects" feel happier, then it would be common curtesy to apologise.

Exactly Krill. No doubt the kids were traumatized by the ordeal. A simple apology by the officers in front of the family would have gone a long way.

It's front page news in Canada. There will be economic fallout on US border communities.

They were not wrong, their reaction was completely correct givin the indicators they had. They recognized a possible threat, contained it, verified, and then realeased following a verification that apparently worked.

              That's what's supposed to happen.

I don't know about you, but I prefer my security people to be steely eyed sons of *****es. If they had beat them in the holding room, or it turned out indicators they reacted to really weren't there you would have a point.

We didn't apologize for boarding dhows that turned out clean because we didn't do anything wrong. We did thank them for their cooperation though, which maybe these guys should have done.

Hope next time like this happens the border guards remember the lessons they are about to be taught very swiftly...with the loss of their Christmas bonus...

I'm sure your fellow citizens in Port Huron agree.

"funny" would not be the word I would choose.

Have someone detain you at gun point. Take a picture and post it. I'd love to see how wide your smile is.

The last time I crossed the Candian boarder into the US I got detrained and searched too.

They told me "We better not find any roaches in your car."

I was all, "Roaches? I keep a clean car."

It wasn't until an hour later and an hour closer to Seattle that my friend told me he was glad they didn't find his pipe that I realize what they meant by roaches.
                                Monkey!!!
