I was pretty much dead on
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820211013 is probably what i'd recommend of that list. It's specifically mentioned in Newegg's memory configurator for a300n as compatible, which is always good AData i've had good luck with, and they have fairly good numbers and use iirc Samsung chips which are quite good.

If I were in the US I'd be on the phone now calling with credit card in hand, but I'm in the Phils so...

There's an HP store in Cebu but that's another island so it involves a boat trip. I know there's a comp store at Bohol Quality mall in Tagbilaran where a guy was assembling computers on the floor of the store. Likely that's my best bet on this island.

Don't they sell computer parts in any of those back alleys in Jagna?

You're in Asia sweating buying electronics. Ex-Navy, right?

How do I release RAM from its holder in the box? I have my box open, power disconected... Is there a trick or do you grab hold and pull like crazy?

From my understanding, the DDR2 and DDR3 RAM currently available are approximately equally fast. But DDR3 RAM costs about 4 times as much.

So for now, don't buy motherboards which require DDR3 RAM.

                                It's QFMFT damnit

And the reason DDR3 is slower is down to increased latency. That'll cahnge sometime in teh future though...
