I have no idea where it is, but...

I spoke with the attorney and he pretty much gave me a run around and told me it would be a ton of money to patent something or really to enlist his service (retainer). Additionally, it seemed he wouldn't be able to do anything to protect my interests without a working model or know how on how to make it.

Thus, I've been working at transcribing my invention into a lab book and, luckily for me, getting it notarized by my neighbor. I have also been researching RF OEMs in the area to help with the prototype. I am pretty sure the materials and labor will be cheaper than the attorney, but I want to protect my interests. I will be calling folks after Christmas.

The idea is to get the prototype built on a CDA (confidentially) and hope that my notebook work will protect the concept and then market the product to companies who would license it.

Definitely a positive outcome. And getting PM certification is a huge plus in corp world these days. Definitely increases your marketability. I think you handled this whole episode well, and have come out with a higher profile with the right people at your gig.

      Well done!

Well, we will still see. I still need to meet with my manager, and director if I have to. It never hurts to ask. I think they'll be fine if the engineering manager is recommending I get it, and has discussed this with his director.

IMO, it's in the bag as it is well know that I have been playing puppet master on several projects and at getting a capital asset procurement procedure put in place. The only set back I could see is the fact that I am getting an MBA and that might make them not want to fork out the cash I need to get it.

I got appoval to get the PM certification. This rocks

I set up a meeting with my manager to disucss goals for next year and threw this in, and he liked the idea. Additionally, I asked for more leadership oppportinuites and was pretty specific and he seemed really excited that I was volunteering to what he said was wanted.

So, in not getting the job I still got what I wanted and feel that I actually came out on top in this one... which rarely happens.
