      I can understand their point of view that at some point, you might be penalized for not opting in... but as long as that doesn't happen, it's great for advertisers and the customers.

        For one, it is because of the situation I just demonstrated. Key word pickups will lead to a lot of erroneous ads being sent. To use the example from the ad...what if the quote was "I'm just not hungry right now. With the cancer, food just doesn't appeal to me at all."...and then you get a big all you can eat buffet ad!

        Not to mention that Arrian's fear is completely legitimate (and Pekka's also )

          In theory it might be good for the consumer. But I'd guess that mostly major chains will use it and whenever I'm hungry I will get sms-spam about a nearby McDonald's that I already know about.
