You guys do know that a warp capable vessel would contain at least a few anti-kilos of antimatter.

And it is theoreticaly evident from our current knowledge that any device used for faster than light travel can be used for time travel as well.

I agree with Straybow other reasons however , since with warp drive you can get lots of other tech from aliens.

This choice is really overpowered, a question for the guys choosing the holodeck: Who's going to pay your electric bills with all those virtual trips to Risa and Orion?

Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

The ship is the winner, though the transporter is tempting (for far more mundane things like eliminating one's commute to work).

You don't go to work if you have a transporter, Arrian; you rob banks.

            No, I don't.

edit: I might, however, get rich charging others to use it. Yeah, right. The NSA would take it away from me in about 10 seconds.

Well, I would rob banks. Also, the NSA might have some trouble taking it from you, because I can't think of a reason why you can't transport people into jails, solid walls, or space.

Anyways, I should never be given any substantial amount of power.

A transporter is useless unless you have another one. We didn't get ship sensors.

This is why the ship is the winner. I can get away from you scumbags.

Well the warp-capable vessel doesn't come with a really sweet computer, so have fun charting courses.

If the cloaking device is able to cloake a single human and is capable to even fool security cameras and m otion detectors, I probably would go with the cloaking device and start a criminal career, stealing things unseen.

The second chpice would be the replicator, as someone said it would be the perfect way to get rich in a short period of time.
And who knows, maybe with this money you could sponsor research into the other things mentioned, maybe becoming the original discoverer of these things (like the person with the transparent aluminium in ST4 )

Tricorder or replicator, both have their advantages in terms of helping the human race. No more starvation, or no more serious sickness... I vote tricorder because of the immediate medical uses.

I don't think you understand what a Tricorder actually is on the show.

A tricorder is used to diagnose medical conditions (among other things), no? I'm not saying it would cure them, but being able to accurately diagnose medical conditions is probably far, far more useful than a panacea. We know how to cure a lot more diseases than we can accurately diagnose at the moment, and an awful lot of medical time and money is wasted trying to diagnose things that could be better spent if it were always known what was the problem.

Ok that now makes sense. I was under the impression that you thought it was a panacea rather than a scanning device.
