That was nixed a couple of decades back. David Soul was going to play the part of Rick.

That's the one area in which today's filmmakers could run rings around Hitchcock. The remake would have great special effects, lousy actors, lousy dialogue and no suspense.

Seriously, I think we can handle a few birds.

Remake 'The Day of the Triffids"

errr I never actually seen the original, but has it pointed out that birds can't actually kill people? That's the big thing that kept me from seeing the original.

Birds kill all the time but the government covers up the killings.

I highly doubt this will be one of those rare occasions.

                            So true.
rah, this totally sums up how it is, IMHO.

Trying to piggyback off the great's is attrocious

The movies from yesteryear had actual acting to build up drama, unlike sensationalism combined with digital imaging and awesome pyrotechniques

It's decidedly lesser Hitchcock -- probably my least favorite of his films except for the godawful Jamaica Inn -- but that still makes it better than most of the pap Hollywood churns out. Plus, the genius of Hitch is that he actually can make you scared of birds.
