IIRC, The order of the day for Lucas Arts is that anything in the books they put out not contradicted by the films is canon.
Ah, so the EU isn't cannon then

If it doesn't contradict the films, it is. I believe I said that.

Yes, you did. The simple joke is there is very little in the EU that doesn't contradict the films.

What about when the EU contradicts the EU?

Which should therefore involve (almost) everything in the books that tells about things that happen after the victory of the rebels in Orbit around Endor.

Yes, it is canon. Lucas says so, ergo it is. There is a hierarchy within SW canon.

Will there be something like a real story, good characters and dialogues this time?

What about when the films contradict the films? Continuity is not something Lucas was big on.

Right, especially the thing with the force.

In 4-6 it was a forcefield that surrounds everything and there was never any talk about tiny microorganisms that acvt s mediators between te force and the humans
and suddenly in 1-3 midichlorians appear that can be measured with technical devices.

or the fact that in 5 Luke apeared to be too old for the training as a Jedi, but there was never mentioned that Anakin as well, at a far younger age than Luke, was to old for the traning as a jedi (which we known since 2).

I had to read it to know that, unfortunetly.

And then I hoped that out of 20 odd authors at leas ONE might have got something right
