I think the whole remark and interview is just another big fest. Ann Coulter trolled?

The thing is, it wasn't a troll. She was being serious. She claims she was ambushed.

"Earlier this week, Coulter went on "The Big Idea," a talk show aired on CNBC, the cable channel devoted to business news. Its host, Donny Deutsch, is a preternaturally affable businessman who invites successful people on to talk about how they turn their ideas into money. Coulter was there to describe how she had -- in our vulgar commercial argot --"branded" herself. At one point, Deutsch asked her what an ideal country would be like, and she replied that it would be one in which everyone was "a Christian." Deutsch, who happens to be Jewish, protested that Coulter was advocating his people's elimination. She responded that she simply hoped to see Jews "perfected" through conversion to Christianity."

      and

' "Here, for example, is what transpired on the airwaves Friday. Deutsch went onto NBC's "Today" show and called it "scary" that, in this instance, Coulter was not being deliberately provocative. "We're playing with dangerous words in our society -- there's no accountability, there's a glibness that we in the media kind of elevate."

Meanwhile, Coulter was on the Kevin McCullough radio talk show, making the utterly absurd case that Deutsch somehow had ambushed her. On his blog later in the day, McCullough agreed. Deutsch, he said, "is an angry anti-Christian bigot, looking to make a name for himself by biting into Christian icons." '
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

        Of course she was serious.

Lets try to think like a christian fundamentalist for just a moment:
You believe your Religion is the only correct one and that all people of other denominations will spend their eternity in hell. You believe the same thing of homosexual people and of course people who question the literal truth of the bible (and instead believe ins tuff like evolution).

With this mindset it is easy to seriously think that the perfect society can only be one where all members are christians (and of course a society where all homosexual people have been transformed into heterosexuals by the love of Jesus ) and maybe even believe that an all christain society gets magically transformed by the lord himself into something greater, a society where no crime exists and the sheep doth lie by the lion without getting eaten

I don't agree with her views at all, but I have to defend her on jus this one issue. Where everyone is seeing anti-semitism, I am merely seeing a difference of religion. All major religions think they are the correct one and everyone else is going to hell. Of course Christians want to "perfect" Jews, Muslims, even other Christians of other denominations. She speaking about Jews as a religion, not as a culture or ethnicity.
Even the atheists try hard to convert religious people to their own beliefs.

Im starting to think minority groups etc get to much protection, to the point where the majority is persecuted for being the majority. Im betting a jew wouldnt get called on this if he said christians needed to be perfected.
if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

I don't think the comment was all that bad. If she's a Christian, she should think that...

Rather than making her point that she was "ambushed"... this just makes her incredibly more scary. The ideal country being one where everyone is a Christian is just nuts and on par with some of the crazy Muslim fundies she likes to rail against.

Any Christian ought to think that an ideal country would have only Christians. Otherwise you have people who are further from God, which is bad for them. Those people would be better off as Christians.

Everything she said is the logical conclusion of the common tenets of Christianity.

Yeah, it's only logical for a believer (in a universalist religion, anyway).

I wouldn't go so far as to say my perfect country would be full of atheistic, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, sane greens, but I would prefer that to the current situation.

I buy into the idea that diversity of beliefs is good primarily because the majority can be wrong/bad. Thus, in my perfect scenario there is diversity essentially to hedge against he very real possibility that I'm wrong about something(s).

Religion doesn't really do "I might be wrong" though, particularly not the hardcore fundies (is Coulter such a one? I thought she was just a shock-jock type).

                                Yep,
which is why nothing you do, even the most beneficial things for others may save you from hell. Only the belief in Jesus does.
And if you believe in him even bad things you do might be forgiven after your death if you repent them.

                                Somehow psychologically well made
You have lead a sinful life? Don´t care, just repent it and come over to the christian bunch, as we´re the ones that finally get to heaven.
You see your neighbour? He leads a pious life, does lots of charitable works and is nice to everyone, but this doesn´t matter. He goes to hell, as he is no christian.
So, why not convert and belong to the winners, we Christians welcome everyone unless he/she is a homosexual or does believe in science
