With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

My personal home purchase was 5.2 x yearly earnings but that buys a lot less here then in a crappy place like the mid-west.

I'd sick the home owners association on you. Your yard looks like crap.

Probably no homeowner's associations in his part of Wiscy. So he can put a car up on on concrete blocks in his front lawn, if he damn well feels like it.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

              thanks guys...

Yes, the yard looks like crap because its a city assor photo taken about 6 months before I bought it when the builder had taken it off the market for a couple of months to tweak things.

But it IS a crappy lawn. Weeds everywhere that I'm fighting with (and slowly winning). I call it a 'multi-cultural lawn'. Others have asked if I had applied to the city praire restoration project...

Yes the garage is big (880 sq ft), but the back is the stairwell to the basement and the laundry room, so it is not the entire width of the house.

Back has a small deck (170 sq ft) and a yard big enough for badmitten net (I'd beat the tar out of ALL of you!!!). Actually, it's big enough for a net on either side of the deck because it's a corner lot.

The really nice thing is that right across the street is a nice city park. Baseball fields, basketball cout, play ground and enough space so no one feels crowded.

The market for apartments in the greater Gothenburg area is red hot. Even crappy places go for a small fortune. A few months ago the average price per square meter past the $5000 mark. Now it's settling down somewhat, but you still have to pay through your nose for a decent apartment. $250 000 is minimum these days and $300-350 000 not uncommon. Considering that the average yearly income in the greater Gothenburg area is around $37000,I think it's safe to say that people are in debt up to their ears...

My sister and her husband sold their apartment in the trendy western parts of Gothenburg for $500 000 two years ago, they built a new house (twice as big!) in another town a few miles outside Gothenburg...

I got a 2 bedroom 1400 sqf condo in Gatineau for 145 000$ this summer. Fairly nice place too, just next to the National Capital Commission woods. In Ottawa - 5 mins drive - it would be about 200 000$ for the same thing.

                        Who told you such none-sense!!!

No one touches my cars. Only I work on my cars, in my small garage (24 x 16)...And I only work on them because I want to, not only because they brake down.

This, too, is an assessor's photo, clearly taken just as the house was completed (2001). The stickers are still on the windows.

                              That shlt is huge!

EDIT: You clearly photoshopped it and made it bigger.

                              I, sir, am not impressed.

It is huge. It's major overkill. But the overall property was just so right we couldn't help ourselves. The only real downside is that the driveway is a MONSTER. Plowing this winter is shaping up to be problematic (at the very least, expensive as hell). Maybe next year I'll buy an old beater of a pickup and stick a plow on it so I can do it myself. Ah, the country...
