British Court Rules Gore's Convenient Lie Wrong on 11 Counts

but the reality is that it really ends up being an award for who has done most good according to the values of Western democracies.
Then it should be renamed.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
Why? There are plenty of people who believe if everyone has the values of Western democracies there will be more peace .

You tell me with a straight face what exactly Gore did last year to advance the cause of peace.
There are plenty of people who believe if everyone has the values of Western democracies there will be more peace
Why didn't Bush win if that were the case?

People tend to believe that going to war to benefit your friends in the military-industrial complex isn't part of the values of Western democracies... even if it is an understood fact .

He went to war in order to spread the light of Western values to an area of the world who had been passed by the so-called Democratic waves for far to long. Bush is only trying to advance the cause of peace by bringing light to the darkness. My God! Coming up with bull**** reasons why someone should win is much easier than I thought.
You still didn't answer the top question though. It's OK. I couldn't come up with one either.

You aren't familiar with the history of the prize, are you? I refer you to, e.g., the 1973 prize.
1973 - Shared by Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and North Vietnam's Le Duc Tho who declined the prize. The pair negotiated the Vietnam peace accord in 1973.

I'd say that my bolding was better as it actually provided a reason to award the prize.

[q=Shrapnel12]How many wars have started over global warming?
Wars haven't been fought over scarce resources in the past? [/Q]
Exactly what resources are to be made scarce by global warming? Low-lying property will be inundated, but that doesn't decrease the coastline. Who's going to fight over it?

Seriously? The next Mid East war will probably be over water (one can make an argument that some of the previous wars in the last 50 years have had water as a prime consideration as well). Already in parts of the US, things are getting hairy... Georgia may be forced to invade North Carolina or something .
And I fail to see how people can go ape **** over this one and yet think Mother Teresa's prize was ok. Yes, she alleviated poverty. That's a great thing... but for a peace prize? Or Hell, the ILO in '69.

It's a shame that the other prizes get dragged down with it, though.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
