Now that they're getting rid of Weir, Season 4 should be good I just can't help it, but the character really annoyed me on Atlantis.
Heh. I didn't know they were getting rid of Weir. I stopped paying attention to Atlantis awhile ago.

The reason she annoys you is because she's a bad actor. She always sounds like a ****ing pansy. Even when she's trying to put her foot down, she's breathy and whiny and ugh.

The original Weir, played by Jessica Steen, was much better. And hotter.

I don't know if it's just the actor or the way they write the character. Yeah, the breathy and whiny part annoys me. How every time crap hits the fan she just gives a stupid "it's hard on all of" speech in a trembling voice. Part of it may well be the acting, but poor writing there is definitely part of the problem.

Yeah, she was better, and the writing of her was also way better then. She was a good woman with a backbone, intelligence and all. Her vs. Kinsey

If it had ended with Season 8 we wouldn´t have the pleasure of seeing Vala
        Or Adria

Browder and Black should've stayed on Farscape, which was infinitely superior to Stargate, but got cancelled so Sci-Fi could make that stupid spinoff!

Okay, now that I've stopped drooling... I'll say this. Stargate is a cheesy show, so cheesy that whenever I watch it I'm afraid I'm going to burst an artery. But by God I can't stop watching... the show has me in its cheesy embrace and it won't let go until the show is finally laid to rest. The movie hooked me in with its entire concept... I was about 11 or 12 when I first watched it and I was at the time a believer in the hopelessly ridiculous theories of Erich von Daniken that the Ancient Gods were aliens.

I must say I prefer the older series with Goa'uld posing as ancient pagan Gods than I do with the current storyline centring around Merlin of all people... which is a massive cheese injection. I do prefer the current storyline to the replicators one though... I like my villains to have at least SOME personality. I think the current storyline with the Ori also offers a not so subtle stab at religious fundamentalism which I find appealing. And did I mention that the new supervillain is the hottest thing in the galaxy since Hathor blew purple horny dust up Daniel Jackson's nostrils? Okay that sounded weird... you had to watch the show, I guess.

I absolutely agree (especialy about Adria ).
              Spoiler:

What a pity that in the end she only had the choice to either ascend or die. But who knows, maybe this opens chances for a spinoff. The Ancients convince Adria that the Ori were evil and give her the permission to conduct missions to Ori-Space to remove the last remnants of the Ori influence).

But I agree, although I found the Ori to be great villains it was somehow srange to cnnect the Artus saga to everything.
All in all I think SG-1 can be compared to Enterprise (the OS), it had its flaws, but it was very entertaining.

Actually, that was annoying since I did really follow the series. I kept thinking it was merging with Farscape.

Thanks Proteus... not as angry as I sounded. Stargate plotlines are not the most unpredictable anyway

I think Aus/NZ generally get TV shows later than most countries... although Channel 10 has started broadcasting shows simultanously to their release in the US... a way of thwarting internet piracy I guess. I was able to watch the first half of season 10 on the internet earlier this year... it only just got onto TV.

Yeah, SG-1 became cheesy early on. Yeah, RDA is surely the reason it has endured. Haven't watched it in a couple years.

But Farscape was a bad show. Why would it merge with one that was at least decent?

I enjoyed BSG, both Stargates, and Farscape. Come on people, there is enough love for all these shows, but now that they are disappearing (except SG: Atlantis), the Sci-Fi channel will suck!
