Sorry Imran, but Pekka is not the one being delusional here. My GF has a master's degree in Gender Studies. Her class was full of Rad Femmes - those who believed that the problem with society was men. That's in one class, in one university, in one city, in one country. Extrapolation would strongly suggest that their ranks are not restricted to a few hundred, world-wide.
Men do rule the world, why shouldn't it be their fault. Women have done what they are told, believed what we told them to believe for the most part.

I find that hard to believe, given your attitude.

        • I'll just let this thread stand as evidence that feminism is important.

Maybe they taught that in 19th century classes, but that's long over. At best there are still certain roles that *some* people *think* they have, but that's far from telling that school teaches that women are crap. At least not the schools I know (yup, it's anecdotical )

School still has mostly the same effect. Otherwise our society would be differerent.

These things are most effective when they are subtle. That way you don't even know what you are being taught. Obviously many people are still in the dark.

It must be uber-subtle since I work for two women, both earning more than me.

                              What's wrong with this one.

Sexism is the bases of all hierarchial social conditioning. It starts when you are very young. You are told you live in a free society, where everyone is equally treated and anyone can do anything if they work hard etc. You make some stupid paper crafts of Lincoln, and you aren't told anything about him or why you are making crafts about him except that he was great and believed blah blah blah.

But in your subconscious you notice that people are not treated equally. Teacher (and probably most other people) wants the boys should do better. So you try to make sense of it, cause that's the way we are rigged up. The result is that you are ****ed up and can't use your brain. You call a hierarchial society a free society. You don't believe that toture is torture, because your authority did it. You are an authoritarian.

What are we going to argue about? Do you think I want women barefoot and pregnant? I think my posts should make it clear I am quite comfortable with women in power positions in society. Doesn't bother me a bit.

Yes, that is the theory. Modern realities are throwing a wrench into this however. Females (in this country) are now the majority in postsecondary education.
