Thanks for the answers guys. They looked honest enough... A few points I guess.

I should have distinguished the situation a little better perhaps. I'm not talking about when you go to WalMart. While my question could apply to everyday life, let's limit it to what has been referred to as "courting". You are on a date with a girl you like. Do you open doors for her, or is that the job of the 1st person to the door? Will you pull her seat for her at the restaurant?

As to the "standing when a lady enters" bit. Nevermind. It used to be a necessary part of common etiquette, in formal settings. I guess I'm just an old fogie.

Walking down the street, I positionmyself on the side nearer the street.

Opening the door to a building, I do, with no distinction of gender.

I know Kid already answered this, but I'd agree with him that those views are sexist (in the later case it wouldn't be sexist if you think a man shouldn't hit a woman AND a woman shouldn't hit a man, but if you think it's ok for a woman to hit a man and the man shouldn't hit back, then that's sexism, IMO).

The reason its harmful is it is putting "women on a pedestal", which means an idea that women must be protected and attitudes like that lead to all sorts of bad things. In the past that sort of attitude was used to justify keeping women from politics (because politics was too dirty for "pure" women to enter) among other things.

"Women and children first" on the sinking Titanic was sexist too?

But seriously, I think it can be like you say, but it is not 100%. And even if it was, I'd also assume that a number of couples live just well in very traditional man/women roles. If both are fine with it I see no reason to declare it bad. The question to me is rather if a certain role is forced on someone, be it "officially" by certain policy decisions or more subtle by social pressure.

and if anything, there is no reason to feel threatened by the hardcore feminazis, they are only directing the hate they have for themselves out at men. I feel sorry for them, not threatened. I'm thinking about this during the day right. Well I'm walking home and these three middle school cheerleaders walk by. And get this, one asks me for money. WTF?! Is that lorizaels dream? Just kidding.

Guys, here's the thing. You don't have to worry about the radical feminists, because they aren't the sexists females. In fact, they are against that. It's the sexists females that you have to worry about. I married one, and it sounds like shrapnel12 married one too. These women use you. They marry for your money, and to have someone to treat like ****. At first they are very nice, but they turn on you.

These little middle school *****es I met today are already sexists. They are already trying to get money from men. They already see men as money bags.

That's why I say watch out with the flirting and dating. If you treat women like equals and demand that they do the same you will be safe from the evil sexist ones. I'm even considering making my dates pay their own way and drive everyother time. That way I can weed out the bad ones.
