I have been tasered and OC sprayed. Taser hurts only when it is administered.

OC Spray, OTOH, was the WORST EXPERIANCE OF MY LIFE!!!!. I had it sprayed directly into my eyes from two feet away for training so I would understand what I was inflicting on someone if I decided to use it. After a brief combat course after first getting sprayed I was in absolute misery for three hours. Water just made it worse.

And then when I was in the shower it got washed out of my hair and back into my eyes. Started all over again.

Remember, whatever weapon you have can be taken away and used against you, so be sure to consider that in your decision. Though I'm pro-gun, I recommend something non-lethal. Perhaps take a self-defense class.

Pepper spray is effective at a distance while if you're gonna taser someone they're close enough to touch you too. Imagine you with your taser and me with my Gerber MKII. I pick me.

Tasers may seem more effective when you watch some huge guy crumple to the ground but tasers can be blocked by bulky clothing.

I believe that the military sprays are considerably stronger than the civilian versions.
