what a despicable religion, we'd have to go back to the Inquisition to find a version of Christianity that comes close.

    • Yes, or better to say a despicable version of an ordinary religion.

It took the Protestants three or four centuries to transform Christianity back into what it should've been all along, and along the way they were often just as bad as the eeevil Papists. I guess we can't expect Muslims to do better in three or four decades.

Sadly, the process usually requires that generations too hardened against change die off... let's hope they don't take too many of the rest of us with them.

A ship at sea is its own world. To be the captain of a ship is to be the unquestioned ruler of that world and requires all of the leadership skills of a prince or minister.

            Yea, whatever.

The way I read what was said is that there are two types of people in the world, Christians and criminals. Without Christianity somehow we would need a dictator, although no real connection was made.

Why is this BS allowed to fly? Blame it on the Muslims?

            • Ron Paul is the man but he has no chance whatsoever. At least the internet gives him some visibility, so that us outside can see that there are still people proposing moderate positions in US, but unfortunately there is only a tiny minority endorsing them...
Socrates: "Good is That at which all things aim, If one knows what the good is, one will always do what is good." Brian: "Romanes eunt domus"
GW 2013: "and juistin bieber is gay with me and we have 10 kids we live in u.s.a in the white house with obama"

              • Since when is the gold standard a "moderate position" and not just stupid?

It's not when. It's where. I guess in Europe.

Because (non-Muslim) Americans are all very good people.

The Framers wrote it into the Constitution, they weren't stupid.

200 years ago a $20 gold piece would have bought a nice suit, today a $20 gold piece would buy a nice suit. Wanna compare that track record to inflation of paper money?

Let's see. Keynes came along about 150 years later. So we really can't blame them for being stupid.

                        • So the Framers were stupid?

Like they didn't understand the concept of fiat paper money and inflation?

Did you learn all that in our wonderful government schools?

What does that have to do with today? Today we have Keynesian monetary theory.

Just curious. What leads you to believe that they did?
