Are there any other internets in the U.S. other than cable and DSL?

$50 for 512 k. yuck. I really don't need internet access anyways . $250 equipement cost, $80 installation, $50 shipping. come on.

going to try calling my cable company again. But I'm not one of those people who can get things over the phone (or in person). I doubt they will care if I make threats to cancel unless they fix the problem.

My blood pressure has gone up twenty points just thinking about the cable modem problems I've had at home! Its been pretty good for the last year but I've had times where I was on the phone every week to the Charter morons. It seemed like every one of their service people blamed zone alarm for the problems. I would patiently explain no, this was an ongoing problem. On and on and on.

I'm thinking of switching to bellsouth for DSL but I'm a little concerned about the fact that I'm close to the max distance for DSL. It would be nice to have the ability to test the usable modem speed.

Up here I have optimum cable. What a change! When I signed up they actually apologized that it would take 3 days for an installer to come on Sunday! Holy ****! and it costs me the same for 8Mbit downloads as I pay for 3Mbit at my house.
