Make sure you don't use your employer's att'ys!
Another possibility is to see who others use. F.e., who are Xavier's patent att'ys?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Let me guess, you have an idea for an alternative use for a venturi injector?

I've finalized my first invention enough to call a patent attorney or two and to find a few prototype shops to make it for patenting steps. The next few days I will be scheduling meetings with these two types of entities.

I've been screening attorney's have found one that I think I like, the only problem is that they represented my employer earlier this year on labor issues, and no longer are involved with them.
Should I be concerned? They aren't using them for patent law... should I still be tentative?
Any chance that you employer could claim that you created your invention on its time and/or with its equipment? I don't mean truthfully claim (although that would be bad) but rather claim falsely but in such a way that someone might believe the lies.
No, the invention is completely not related in any way shape or form with what I do at work. I doubt they'd even care to try and claim it. We are a biotech company and this a little electronic device for vehicle security. I've done all the work at home. The only thing I did at work was a google search for attorneys.
