Btw, the World Football Thread is probably getting more posts quicker nowadays than it ever did in the OT... when I had to more than once dig it up from the 3rd or 4th or 5th page.
    QFT.

I wish people would stop whining about the Sports Forum. It is a perfectly sensible arrangement and the persistant grumbling about "killing the OT" is nonsense.

I for one do not want the OT clogged up by endless 'Draft' threads. Whatever TF they are.

But Winston does have a point.

All other sports, except for a very narrow selection, are not noticed at all. I have completely stopped posting sports threads, for that very reason. No one care to reply to them in the sports forum.

I sooo wanted to make threads about the TdF, but I didn't care to do it, as I knew that no one would notice those threads.

This division sucks, to be honest.

Are you purposely forgetting pchang's thread on that? I thought you posted in it?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I don't read sports threads or go to the sports forum, but Winston is right.

Particularly with the reduced traffic at Apolyton these days, separating these threads out does them more harm than good.

I can ignore threads in the OT that don't interest me (ie 95% of them). I'm capable of that.

Hell the front page of OT needs more action. Bring the subforums home!

There was that one, yes. It wasn't on the Tour de France though. And it got a whooping 8 replies, as I recall. Of which I probably made 2. Funny you should mention it, since that's when it actually dawned on me what a wreck the Sports Forum had become.

Where are the admins? What was their motivation for separating sports discussion from the main OT - and has it worked to their satisfaction, now that it's all about MLB, NFL, NHL and the Premier League?

To be fair - nothing falls quickly in the OT forums these days. I've been looking at the same boring, stagnant threads for the last week.

I understand the need/desire for a quick and easy way to find these type threads.

On the other hand I only have a passing interest in sports and did sometimes post in sports threads when they caught my attention in the oT. I don't think I've made a sports post since they were banished to their own forum.

Sports should be put back to the regular off-topic forum. I never check it because it's all about ovalball anyway

Winston, how many threads have you started in the Sports Forum?

                              ZERO

If you want threads about tennis, the world athletic championships, curling, etc., start one.

This is another case of somebody complaining that somebody else didn't start a thread about something the complainer is interested in.

Start your own thread, if people aren't interested, then that's simply the way it goes.

But, at least make the effort before you whine about it.

Again start a thread about a sport that interests you, then you'll have a reason to check the forum.
