That was my hellhole thread (link is in the OP), which coincided with a department call for volunteers to go risk life and limb. I've dodged that bullet -- for now.

So are those 6 you listed all your choices or did you hold out on us? Any chance of a first line european country? Good beer, safety...

I would strongly recommend NOT going to La Paz. I lived for three years in Bolivia (Santa Cruz) and overall it was pretty good but in La Paz the altitude is awful, the roads through the mountains to get anywhere are horrific and they don't have the delicious Argentina-ish food like in the east, but a lot of crap like rehydrated potatoes and peanut soup with french fries floating in it.

Out of those Lima sounds the best or maybe Moscow.

Can't you get to somewhere civilised like London?

Kiev seems to be closest to the civilized world

One trip across poland and you enter the civilized european countries (or a short flight, if you prefer to travel via plane)

Why do you we have to choose between **** holes?

I voted Jerusalem, thinking it would probably be a good career move for you. Moscow is likely to be an even better move, but for me, any Russian speaking place sounds sooooo drab.

Probably isn't though, but....there you have it

                      Go for Jerusalem

Lima or La Paz. Chavez's influence will be spreading, so these stations will be becoming more exciting and career enchancing.

Plus: There will be no getting shot and no Russian winters.

It's a win, win, win situation.
