Attacking infidels and expecting the infidels to convert are not one and the same.

I don't expect A-Q to do what we want (disappear), but it would be nice.

Would this be a better quote?

“We are not fighting so that you will offer us something. We are fighting to eliminate you.” - Hussein Massawi, former Hezbollah leader
I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara
For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

The purpose of that quote is clearly to get you to do something without regard to ethics.

Not really. Nothing about conversion there. That's genocide.

Westerners are capable or great evil. They are capable of good, but capable of evil also. The terrorists hope we will be evil.

In 30 years the ME will be exactly what it was for most of human history. Sand. And they can have all they want.

In the end all of the damage every Islamic extremist has caused to the West is trivial relative. Some very tragic personal stories but as a civilization it is all irrelevant. If we would treat the incidents as a drunk driving level event (which is still out of proportion to effect, drunk driving is far more harmful) like they actually warrant we would all be much happier.

I have bad news for Mr. Massawi, but our birth rate is much higher then the death rate from terrorist attacks. I bet after all the infidels are dead, he'll be busy emptying the ocean with a teaspoon next.

Honestly, in every metric besides pride and emotion, that would be insignificant too.

There I'd disagree with you, if the target was one of our major cities. NYC. London.

That would have worldwide impact. Would it bring down our civilization? No, it would not. But it would cause significant disruption - enough to rise above "trivial."

This is a minor quibble - I largely agree with you.

That is because you won against them when they attacked you, when they were strong, and you purged your lands if their influence when you had the chance.

For those of us who lost, however, the consequences have been horrible beyond belief.

African and South-East-Asian countries alienated against themselves, Arabia radicalised and cut off from its own history, Persia exterminated, and India almost completely destroyed.

Again, not for those of us who suffered most. We have seen the things we value wantonly, deliberately, calculatedly, and sadistically destroyed for nearly a millennium.

I still do now know whether we will recover. But I am hopeful. After all, we have always recovered in the past, though we have never faced a trauma so massive. And the thing that gives me most hope is that we can build, whereas they can only destroy. One day, they are destine to die.

If you would realise the threat that this evil you face is capable of posing, and learn from the history of those not so fortunate in facing it, you would be much more cautious, and much less dismissive.

Yeah you're right, it would cause a major headache paperwork wise.

I remember when 9/11 happened a lot of people around me were horrified (besided the loss of life) that the took out the WORLD TRADE CENTER. O. M. F. G. What are we going to do without world trade? We were obviously doomed.

I remember the looks of disgust I got when I pointed out "world trade" was not a golden statue they kept locked in a safe, and that all the WTC was was a depsitory for paperwork, all recreatable.

And then when I pointed out that the "World Trade Center" was just a name to help lease office space I think they wanted to hit me.

When you see that an apple tree in an orchard is a bad one, do you wait for the fungus to spread until it has spoiled enough to be accounted "non-trivial" in your opinion? Or you you promptly take out that infection, destroy it, and spray fungicide on the rest so as prevent further contamination?
