I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

    • Oh come on. How can China have less points than India?

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power.

                          • I have to admit that I am embarrassed by my lack of knowledge of Indian civilization.

                            In school, I was taught:
Civilization began in four spots: Nile, Tigris-Euphrates, Indus, Hwang Ho.
Alexander invaded. Got part way across but then turned arounds, headed home & died.
European explorers found it; struggle between British and French; British won.
Raj; East India Company; tea; Kipling; Kyber Pass.
Ghandi or Gandhi (however it's spelled)
                            Partition.
Border wars with Pakistan & China.

                            That's just pitiful, pitiful.

                              Statistical anomaly.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
