  • Shouldnt Sumerians have been there instead of Babylon?

I dont think akkadians innovated a lot, they are just the first semitic invaders to adopt the culture of mesopotamia

Indeed. It was the Indians who gave us nothing.

                Thanks.

I wasn't really intending for it to be a replacement for your system, I just thought it would be a fun way of going about it and could hopefully keep interest up and activity up in this forum. This isn't a vote once and forget about it type of thing, this requires on going attention to the thread. We have various hurt or heal threads running on my forum and they are kinda neat. Everything from Simpsons characters to 20th Century US Presidents.

Arabia, well, they had a golden age around Islam, gave us zero, and some engineering designs. As far as lasting impact I would go with Babylon, at least from a civic point of view.
While you are certainly free to vote based on whatever criteria you think is important, I think there is too much of a tendency to vote on the basis of what a civ "gave us". I think there is more to civilizations besides their scientific achievements.

Arabia served as an important bridge between west and east during the time period for scientific and technology purposes, so should get a nod for that reason, but there is so much more to the culture.

The military accomplishments of the early Islamic Arabs was incredibly noteworthy. Uniting everything from Spain to India is not an easy task. Military prowess is definitely worthy of note in this contest imho. Amazing architecture and art throughout the Arab world as well.

Plus the emergence of a world view and religion that continues to have a strong influence on the world today. Look at all that has happened in the world in the last few decades. For better or more likely worse, the Arab world exerts a tremendous amount of influence on this planet and makes them clearly worth of note.
