The trend seems to be china\india vs greece\rome, not surprising since there is alot of argument over west vs east. US patriots vote for USA and certain others vote against USA

I see this list as mixing ethnic groups, countries and civilizations all in one, though

The US is certainly up there, but I tried to vote based on merit. Babylon was one of the first major civs and gave us some of the most important aspects relating to communication and government. Arabia, well, they had a golden age around Islam, gave us zero, and some engineering designs. As far as lasting impact I would go with Babylon, at least from a civic point of view.
