I like how they held the debate at The Citadel. The Justice Department installed administration of my beloved alma mater never fails to sell out the cadets whenever they get a chance. Bush and other Republicans have been there to make all kinds of policy speeches/announcements several times, but with one difference. They do it when the cadets are there.
Why would they visit during summer break when the cadets are not there? So they can get all the trappings of "we love the military" without being hissed of the stage. I can't stress how much military types do not like liberals in general, and democrats especially. The Citadel and Charleston in general is not a democrat friendly place.
News flash -- there are Democrats who have served in the military during peace time and war time, and there are some serving today.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.Comment
