FFS none of you ever played WC: Prophecy? The Vampire is seriously underappreciated. Wing Commander.
(I'm having problems connecting Windows-era joysticks to DOS-era games though, so it'd prolly be better to just get WC: Prophecy, which includes the overpowering Vampire)DISCLAIMER: the author of the above written texts does not warrant or assume any legal liability or responsibility for any offence and insult; disrespect, arrogance and related forms of demeaning behaviour; discrimination based on race, gender, age, income class, body mass, living area, political voting-record, football fan-ship and musical preference; insensitivity towards material, emotional or spiritual distress; and attempted emotional or financial black-mailing, skirt-chasing or death-threats perceived by the reader of the said written texts.

Watching the cylon raiders in the original BSG, I have to conclude that they were a little faster than the Vipers, but a lot less manuverable and relatively underarmed for their size. It's telling that Kamakaze attacks were a common tactic, and that Vipers were always able to get on their six.
Plus, they had three pilots, not one of whom ever though to look behind them. No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I'm a big fan of the Argon Nova. Sure, it's on the slow side, but you can use most missles, change out the fixed energy weapons on the fly and the automated rear turret means incoming missles are not a concern. Plus, it can mount the ion disruptor, which has a 30 degree danger zone, will knock out any missle, and will drop enemy shields in a heartbeat. No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Shrike class LAC's from David Weber's Honor Harrington series. Both for the innovation they represented, and the complete change they made to centuries of established Starship military tactics.
