  • Best spacefighter

I personally think TIE Interceptors look most cool of them. Dunno how they would perform, say, against a Viper Mk VII of course.

Definitely TIE interceptor. Best craft I've ever flown. Take out any other craft out there, even some capital ships. Tie Defender might be a bit better of an attack craft, but it can't take out A-Wings effectively.

Tie Advanced might give it a run for its money, though. [Darth Vader's TIE fighter was a Tie Advanced prototype.] Fast, and has shielding.

Whatever the ship was in The Last Starfighter. None of the ships you listed have a "Death Blossom" attack.

Death Blossom had a very short range, and left the ship unable to fight for a significant period of time.

Plus those fighters look rather expensive..

              The F-109 Vampire Space-Superiority Fighter:

"It was swift, sleek, and very powerful, which made the fighter the preferred choice in combat. The Vampire mounted a front weapon array that included four Tachyon and two Particle cannons. The missile payload was heavy as well. A single Vampire would be equipped with, but not limited, to eight Friend or Foe missiles, eight Image Recognition missiles, and Confed's newest missile, Tracker MIRV (four). The Tracker MIRV missile fires like a dumbfire missile; however, it splits in to four Friend or Foe missiles after four seconds and aims for its target, making it a deadly weapon in the Vampire's arsenal. Usually assigned to heavy fleet carriers, the Vampire is customised to combat groups of enemy fighters. The Vampire can engage in long-range missile fights with good chances of survival. Its shields have medium strength, but exhibit an excellent recharge rate. The Vampire was indeed Confed's most powerful heavy fighter in the fleet."

Believe me. It's not your lucky day when you come across one of these babies.

                Hammerheads are great

But maybe I should have chosen the organic ships the Chigs fly

X-Wing. Duh. Though it'd be a bit of a contest if the Tie Defender were up there.

We'd need a base line to compare them all. What performance characteristics do they all have? from the video games? Do shields work? Do craft which do have a limited top speed have to compete against craft that can accelerate as long as they have fuel? missiles?

From the video games I'd agree with the Starfury being the best.

BTW, anybody knows why I get the message my system specs are unsufficient when a try to install Wing Commander Prophecy? Or a way to get around of this? (yes, my system specs are well beyond required)
