Well, if they have a suspect, doesn't that imply there is a version of events?

yes. it also implies that there's enough evidence to bring criminal charges.
i'm pleased that we're taking a tough line on this. how is britain supposed to accept a nasty little police state like russia killing our citizens on our own soil."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

Does anyone really challenge that the russian (something) had litvinenko killed?
there is a lot of evidence that lugovoi is the man responsible, enough in fact to bring a criminal prosecution. it's harder to prove who he was working for or who gave the order to kill litvinenko, but you don't exactly need to be sherlock holmes to identify the most likely culprits..."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

"Everybody knows that this is true" theories have the tendency to turn into embarrassments for their advocates because they are so poorly researched due to total lack of self-questioning about the validity.Last edited by RGBVideo; July 17, 2007, 10:39.

this sums it up very nicely.
Scotland Yard just honestly examined the traces left by MI6 and concluded they were leading to Russia.Freedom is just unawareness of being manipulated.

They could conduct the trial in Russia. Yes, the Russian justice system is screwed and biased. I know, I know. Yet this would provide a tribune to the Brits to prove their case. But apparently they've not got too much of a case. It is the propagandistic effect that they seek. They just need to cover up their own asses.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth

As for a "fair" trial, I highly doubt that a fair trial is possible in this case in principle, even in Britain. Don't get me wrong. I am of much higher opinion of the British courts than of the Russian ones. Yet in the case where "raison d'etat" is involved, I would not expect a fair trial even from the best possible Anglo-Saxon court.
There's enough evidence to request extradition, which in itself isn't something we'd do lightly.Freedom is just unawareness of being manipulated.
