I hadn't argued with Asher in ages when I left. I don't think he was even posting at the time I last posted (perhaps he was banned – I don't know and don't really care). I can't be sure about that, since I had been posting less and less myself, and I finally realized I was bored with the pointless ****storm that the OT had become (this was during the last Lebanon war IIRC). You'll remember that other long term posters had left not long before I did, or not long afterwards for much the same reasons.
I came back a few times to check PMs, and to see if things had gotten better. Turns out it was worse, so I pretty much forgot about it. Then another former poster messaged me the other day telling me to come and have a look. So I did and laughed my ass off. Someone mentioned me in one of the threads, so I posted a reply.
It seems to me the management is finally cracking down on the forum wreckers, troublemakers and people who engage in absolutely nothing but abuse, like yourself (Asher was simply the worst offender in this regard – although there are quite a few others). If this continues, the forum will go back to being like it used to be three or four years ago. If not, I will probably stop posting again (as it is I spend a lot more time on Slashdot and Digg).
When I visited Britain about 10 years or so back, I didn't notice many deficiencies in customer service. Or at least not any worse than other places in Europe. Now it wasn't up to par with American customer service, but then again, what is?

There are lots of sophistical and pointless subfields of every discipline. The original argument is basically an a priori piece of reasoning, so you'd probably have to change the terms to get anything going.
If your complaint is that economics assumes perfect information, than the existence within economics of analysis of imperfect information, search costs, etc would seem to be far from pointless. It would be like complaining (in 2007) that physics assumes a fixed frame of reference, and then dismissing relativity as sophistical and pointless.

Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and Japan in my experience.
I imagine the French would give the British a run for their money. Never been there though. My brother said they were infuriating.

My point was that in order for markets to be really efficient you pretty have to assume perfect information. Otherwise people won't be making decisions based on what they really want, but decisions that are epistemically hampered.
I guess that there is a minute possibility that a deluded citizenry could accidentally effect an efficient distribution.
I don't think it is logically possible to separate an intentional efficient distribution from perfect information (you can have an unintentional one, but that would be extremely unlikely).
Perhaps I didn't understand what you were aiming at.
