  • Ban on violent porn

A ban on 'extreme' pornography is currently making its way into law in the UK. Manhunt 2 was only pulled off shop shelves, it's not illegal to own.

This is different. It's censorship, pure and simple.

    BBC story

    The Parliamentary Bill

It makes it illegal to own still images from violent films. First they came for the communists, etc.

First they came for the communists

Seems wise enough, considering the Communists have this habit of coming for the non-Communists.

In the same vein: Sweden is putting the well known torrent site Pirate Bay on the list that blocks child porn sites!!! It's a blatant attempt at censorship. They couldn't close it legally, so now they're just closing it with the flimsy excuse that Pirate bay is used for distributing child pornography. Well, Yahoo and Hotmail is also used by sick pervs, are they going to demand that the swedish ISP's block these sites as well?? I don't think so...

Zoid: What exactly are you censoring if you close down a site dedicated to pirating the works of others?

In what way? The information is still available from legitimate outlets.

File sharing is not illegal in Sweden. So they're closing a legitimate site on trumped up charges. I call that censorship.

That doesn't change the fact that the information is still available with no one from the government trying to supress. So it makes little sense to hysterically scream censorship because the government closed your favorite way to get free games or movies. Now it maybe other scummy things persecution but it isn't censorship.

Even if file-sharing is not illegal, I imagine that intellectual property theft is.

what do they consider violent porn?

the title seems like it's a porn movie with some sort of crime plot. I hear some porn movies still have plots these days.

or are they talking about the porn that is simulated rape and stuff?

It's only theft in the eyes of Old Media, the ones like the RIAA who would rather get in the way of technology rather then adapting to it.
