        The entire population and companies use about 3 terwatts of power, the almunium smelter will use about 4. So significantly more than the rest of the country put together.

        As someone said people rather want a "enviromentally friendly" factory here rather one powered by fossil fuels. Thats so stupid for us, a nation with europe's last remaining unspoilt wilderness, to sacrifice our wilderness for somebody else's .

        About the icelandic gene pool. There is a lot of celtic blood in iceland since the first vikings took a lot of (mostly female) slaves from ireland and scotland. Its a common misunderstanding that icelanders are all blonde, blue eyed.
