Yeah, that's what I'm talking about; it's downright disturbing.

I've seen plenty of those around in local politics ( Israelis, you know what I am talking about ) . It's usually politically driven spin-doctors charging up and recruiting deeply engrained, often "thought-to-be-discarded", and thus mostly consciously denied stereotypes, that are prevalent through society.

I'd like to have a woman as president, but I don't like Hillary's politics
This space is empty... or is it?

Disliking her politics, of itself, wouldn't lead to the kind of rabid hatred I'm describing.
Participate in any abortion or immigration debates recently? People get pretty rabid about their politics these days, Apolyton is a good example.

Also, she has been in the spotlight for awhile now. If you're tried and true liberal hater how long have you had to hear Obama's name? Hillary is a reminder of whatever issues you have been bashing liberals on for over a decade. Anything you got your panties in a twist over in the Clinton years, even if no longer relevant, Hillary dredges back up. And unlike Bill who was cool and likable, Hillary isn't so its okay to hate her over things you probably actually should level on her husband.

...working like slaves, and YOU know what I am talking about...
Crap like that, so fake and pandering. It happens to work with that demographic she was talking to, but still plastic.

GWB isn't currently a candidate, and he wasn't hated so much when he was still just a candidate. So no, he probably can't, Ogie.

Funny there were any number of people saying they hated the man so much they would leave the country were he elected.

Methinks what we have going on here is a bit of psychological projection. Emphasizing the supposed hysteria of the right.

In 1999/2000? I was too young to vote at the time, so I didn't pay super-close attention, but he seemed to be getting only mild mockery for his difficultitudes with the English language. The virulent 2004 opposition had more to do with his performance as president, which makes it not very comparable to "Hillary Hatred," whatever that is. I didn't know Hillary was hated as such by anyone other than right-wing hacks using her as an emotional punching bag for their grievances with her husband (hey, I'm sort of agreeing with Patroklos...odd).

Not really. How long has she been a Senator now?

You support my point. This supposed ground swell and wide spread white hot hatred is not so much when it comes to Hillary. Making it a bigger thing than it actually is feeds the mania.

I agree partly with Rufus. I think mysogyny DOES feed into the beast. Especially because Hillary is considered a 'strong woman'. I don't think it's the only thing there, but it definately is an element.

The level of vitrol directed at her is just ridiculous. And it isn't even just now, but during the Clinton HealthCare proposal and all throughout the Clinton administration as well, when she was just First Lady. She was far more hated than anyone else in that administration (including her husband, of course).

It's kind of amusing because the right likes to portray her as some sort of Hanoi Jane Marxist commie, but she really is very much the triangulator, like her husband. She's more moderate than just about anyone on the Dem field.

If there is any hatred directed towards Hillary based on her being a woman, I think it's mostly to do with the fact that we wanted our first female candidate to be exceptional in some way. Hillary is just another random politician; nothing about her sets her apart from any other candidate.

I am also strongly disinclined to vote for her a reason already stated - I don't want to continue the whole Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton thing.
