Is Hillary Hatred simply misogyny?

More to the point, Rove has done plenty to earn that hate -- his actions in the Bush White House have been contemptible, divisive, damaging to America, and possibly illegal. By contrast, Hillary has -- what? Presided over a failed health care initiative? Secured pork for New York? Joined dozens of other Senators in being inconsistent about Iraq? How are these two figures even remotely comparable?

I'm not saying they're totally comparable... but I think they're certainly "remotely" comparable.

Your description of Rove (one I generally agree with) is a liberal one. A consie would see things differently. Ditto re: your description of Hillary.

The other bit has to do with Hillary's political stances way back... before I was born. There's a bunch of stuff online about her siding with Black Panthers and such. I can't speak to the truth of it. I only bring it up as another possible basis for the hate (true or not).

I certainly don't rule out her gender as a major issue. I just think there is more to it...

Bill and Hillary were McGovernites in '72 (I suspect anything about the Panthers is either a lie, or possibly, a twist on something she said) . But they were McGovernites who LEARNED, who became pragmatic, who examined different policy positions, etc. Maybe too pragmatic, in some ways.


You should see or read "Primary Colors" Its quite unsympathetic in many ways, but also lets you see some of the positives, and I think gives a good idea of where they were coming from - the idealism beneath the ruthless cynicism. Its also hilariously funny (Well the film, i havent read the book)

Hillary A. Poured scorn on Reagan admin sleaze, Bush admin elitism, and then turned out to have dealt commodities with Arkansas chicken tycoons
B. Hillary attempted to win support as a feminist, while getting ahead as a wife
C. While getting ahead as a wife, she said "i dont bake cookies"
D. She hung out with Michael Lerner and talked about the politics of meaning

Sometimes she lived up to a charictiture of herself. Given all that, theres no way the right could have NOT hated her viscerally, whatever she did or didnt do in the WH.

The 92' "campaigning as a couple" is something I was completely unaware of (well, I was 8 at the time! ), but I think that brings even more basis to the wide-spread talk about them actually preplanning them both being POTUSes back in the day. Plus, extra points about being rather upfront about it, if you ask me.
