Yeah, but there's a difference between other people saying it and his current self-pwnage.

Directly contradicting yourself in the press is generally not a good thing.

Yes, I'm considering 'him' to be the same as 'his office' in this case.

He's been making the argument all along that he follows the law, it's just certain laws don't apply to him. Apparently even the laws that are specifically supposed to apply to him don't now, though.

Do you think he actually cares about what people think? He is telling everyone to go **** themselves and gets away with it. I expect a coup lead by him early next year to ensure that he is installed as emperor. He will be connected to a machine that will insure he lives forever.

he also sits in Cabinet meetings and has an office at the White House.
Can't the President let whoever he wants into his Cabinet meetings? Or give anyone he wants an office at the White House?

Well that's a frightening thought. Gee, thanks.

So the argument isnt THAT far fetched.
Remember, though, that this was the case when the VP was the losing presidential candidate and a rival to the president. Nowadays the two are supposed to be a team, and the constitution really does seem to indicate, in pretty clear language, that the VP is a member of the executive branch.

Did he or did he not take (or help taking) executive decisions ?

Reagan really was an idiot. Anyone recall when Reagan claimed trees cause more pollution then automobiles? The man just never had a solid grasp of science & critical thinking. Luckily, he just had to read scripts other people wrote for him and he never had to think for himself. GWB has completely followed the Reagan example right down to refusing to do live press conferences when ever possible; Reagan would screw live events up left and right saying.

John Adams was not in fact a rival to George Washington, and was more "pro-Washington" than Jefferson was.
