The problem of them is they are irresponsible.

1: They have organized a march friday, they will be protesting in front of the family soldiers, of the soldiers.

2: The poll show what I was afraid of Quebecker's, they are ideologically pacifist... They are not caring for reality, reality is too hard for them.

I can understand some reasons to not be in Afhanistan(I have mine); but right now, we are there, it's time to show our support.

In 2009, the mission is going to be reevaluated by the government. In 2009, it will be the times of protesting. But right now, we are there, I really think the "only" solutions is to be there and helping the OTAN mission. Wishing that Afghanistan will be able to get rid of the taleban.

I don't want Afghanistan to be capitalist, I don't want them to have McDonalds all over the place, I don't want them being in controlled of oil company, and things like that.

But right now, putting aside ideology; we are there, and the best thing should be to keeps the troops there. (if they want to be there)

Your argument against their beleifs set aside for a moment, you are acting like eyesofnight. Just because they believe different than you do doesn't make you better then them.

God, I know who I am. I know that I'm better than them.

Seriously; I understand your point of view

My friend(who also lived next to my appt) is one of the people who is organizing the protest tomorrow. () I can have rationale discussion with him... I try to not be arrogant.

But now we can't spoke about it... because they are ideologically driven ( I bet 5$ that he say that I'm also ideologically driven) by anti americanism and by a vague sentimental pacifism. Which is, badly, a part of Quebec culture. I that's what I hate.

Isn't it a hold over from the French era for Quebeckers to be annoying? I figured that was just how they got such generous transfer payments from the rest of the provinces.

                  Historically this is true.

I can understand some reasons to not be in Afhanistan(I have mine); but right now, we are there, it's time to show our support.

Why would you show support for a military mission you disagree with? If you are talking about the troops - I would support them all the way home.

In 2009, the mission is going to be reevaluated by the government. In 2009, it will be the times of protesting.

There will be no reevaluation if PM Steve is still in charge. It will be like the last "debate" in parliament - The decision is made to continue regardless of the Commons vote. Bank on it.

But right now, we are there, I really think the "only" solutions is to be there and helping the OTAN mission.

NATO has failed as an alliance. "I'll help so long as I don't have to fight" is not an alliance.

Wishing that Afghanistan will be able to get rid of the taleban.

Once we finish killing off all the Afghanis they will be free of "Taliban". They are one and the same.

It's that kind of thinking that led to situations like the one in My Lai in the Vietnam War.

DD - Don't misunderstand my position. I'm not advocating genocide of Afghanis. My position is to let them determine their own government. The west supporting a figurehead (does Kharzi still have his American praetorian guard?) that can't garner enough support among his own people to stay in power is doomed to fail.

When you start viewing the population at large as being the enemy and thinking that either trying to win their hearts and minds isn't worth the trouble or impossible as you suggest that the whole enterprise becomes a house of cards bound for failiure. I hope the Canadian military has more vision and discipline otherwise they should leave at the first opportunity.

I think the results on the ground show this mission is a failure. 6 years on and we can't safely leave our bases (Iraq in miniature).

Yes, we should leave at the first opportunity.
