Should Homosexuals Adopt or Access IVF?

IVF is In Vitro Fertilisation. In other words, lesbians/single women would procure the donor sperm and become artificially inseminated.

I can support gays/lesbians/single people adopting children (I did grow up watching Different Strokes) but utilising IVF worries me, because a human life is being specifically created for the purpose of fulfilling a frustrated instinct/desire for parenthood.

Or poor parents, or a parent significantly older than their partner, or a parent with a disability, inherited or otherwise, or an abusive parent, or parents who belong to some obscure religious sect...

...the child better not have a visible disability either. Children are quite cruel. Nor red hair, nor a speech impediment, nor be inclined to put on weight, to be a swot and not sporty, to be gay themselves...

the lesson for today is, life is hard.

Harder still for children left to languish in institutional care because the 'right' set of parents can't be found for them.

At least in america gays should be allowed to adopt because the system is totaly overloaded and broken. I would like to have a father and a mother though. IVF is already legal for everyone. I don't think I should have to pay for it.

As I do not support gay/les marriage I don't support gay/les couples adopting. I don't see a problem with IVF for single women. I can even support single gay/les adoption (as long as they aren't into NAMBLA or some such).

If society isn't going to prevent idiots and incompetents from breeding, why would it allow otherwise capable parents from adopting? Single mother situations from teen pregnancies should be a much bigger concern than 2 dudes raising a kid.
