Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

On a more broader stance, I do believe Ron Paul is a fine candidate who, given the vast powers of the president in the US, would make a real difference for making the country better. Not just who can **** up the least, but actually make improvements.
I think a lot of people take position based on their emotional response in certain things and RP is doing the exact opposite. He promotes values that the US is known for, except seems like it's a word that no one can elaborate on more. RP can. Small government, freedom of the individual (that includes privacy), let's spend money wisely, let's think about taxes again and promote the free market. Even more so, he challenges the idea of the government and its role.
He is consistent, he is not an apologist and he doesn't care about how much things the government can and could do instead of the freedom and liberty of its people, that is an end to itself.
I think that if RP was elected, the US would do so much better with international relations as well. You know, the image that was built in the earlier decades that pretty much now is gone. It can be back. It should be back. I just don't see how some of the candidates, including Democrats, could win over RP when issues fight issues. The weak attacks against him have been so lame, that it just kind of tells us the intellectual level of the barker. "So you say we invited...". He never said that. If you don't get what he meant, it means you are stupid. He cleared it out so many times, that a person who says that NOOO this is what he really meant is nothing but a socialist ****.
It says that his record is following:
* He has never voted to raise taxes.
* He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
* He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
* He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
* He has never taken a government-paid junket.
* He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
* He voted against the Patriot Act.
* He voted against regulating the Internet.
* He voted against the Iraq war.
* He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
* He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Sounds good to me. It basically means he practices what he preaches in his own work and life. That's a rare commodity, and if you think about it, he has less ties and therefor is likely less corrupted (politician) than any other candidate.
If you want a real president, here's the chance. I have my own selfish reasons why I root for RP. I HOPE he would get elected, and like he says, by setting an example, the world can change. Showing others how things get done so they do the same.
So.... I hope he sets that example, and maybe we can see that success in here and finally kick these socialist tools back to the caves they came from and bring out the real issues and copy some of it in here. Change the political paradigm altogether. If RP was elected, we woudl surely talk a lot about it in here. MAYBE, just MAYBE we might emulate some of it in here, and I believe we would be better off and more succesful and happy because of that as well. So folks, don't get your panties on a twist.

And then there's Ron Paul on airport screeners, who are disproportionately black and hispanic:
"We quadrupled the TSA, you know, and hired more people who look more suspicious to me than most Americans who are getting checked," he says. "Most of them are, well, you know, they just don't look very American to me. If I'd have been looking, they look suspicious ... I mean, a lot of them can't even speak English, hardly. Not that I'm accusing them of anything, but it's sort of ironic."

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
Another thing on which Drake and I can agree: Ron Paul and Runzas.

if Ron Paul's good ideas get passed along to other republicans then whats the harm?

And if he was elected, he'd likely pardon every non-violent drug offender in jail. Thats reason enough for me to support him...
