You don't have to be poor to be emo. Sorry if this sounds insulting, but you clearly don't understand what emo means.

I never said that, I just mean I think these kids have had a comfy life, so, why all the suffering?

right, you have to be comfortable enough materially to worry about petty problems to be emo.

boohoo. A boy in Iraq had his entire family murdered. A girl in Kurdistan was killed for family honor. the personal suffering of someone in the united states over familial abuse is trumped by the societal and personal suffering of people anywhere else due to a complete neglect of civil liberty and value of life.

I guess I'll admit I cut myself once. But I did it before it was cool. You could say I started the movement. . I have no desire to do so today. I was just going through a bad time.

That's all I have to say. Usually it's just a phase. If they don't grow out of it, they may need meds. no biggie.

Parents are always worried about kid trends. In the 80's parents worried about heavy metal music. It hasn't destroyed society like they thought it would. All that satanic music wasn't harmful at all.

Then the focus turned onto gangsta rap music. Then onto goth music. And now emo.

Has anyone asked them why are they so sad?
It's simple. It is cool to be sad and whine about how horrible your life is as you get into the BMW your parents bought you and go to the private school they pay thousands for you to attend. It's a joke. A sad joke which has been going on for over a decade and which only now the loser old people have picked up on and have decided to name as public enemy number one.
