That's where people are misled. Rational-choice individualism might be an important part of our dominating ideologies, but it doesn't have all the answers. Some people are actually cooperative.

An excuse like that reveals your inner weakness and fear, KH. Trust in yourself and you won't need any bulliness.

I love it when people try pop psychology on me. I have my psychological weak points, but confidence isn't one of them.

I dont have my references handy, but my impression is that the notion of insecurity being often at the root of bullying is far from only "pop" psychology.

That too. Though I must confess to being extremely pop in my psychological education. Like anyone else on the internet.

"Pop" psychology is when a principle which is only applicable in some less-than-overwhelming fraction of cases is blindly applied to all cases.

heres the American Psychological Assn page on bullying. At least one site they link to supports the notion that at least one of the motives of bullies is to cover their own weaknesses.

KH will probably dismiss APA as silly social scientists.

Furthermore, I'm not only referring to the bullying itself, also to the rather lame attempt to excuse it.

Quite Doddler-ish to be honest. SO STRONG

I dont have data handy on the fraction, whether its say, 30% or 70%. I dont know that Ecthy was applying it to all cases, he was applying it to YOU.

He was applying it to me based solely on the observation that I bully occasionally. Unless he had some other observations which he failed to mention.

I'm not excusing anything. I'm actively promoting the growth of bullying here.
