The poor aren't professionals, generally, for example, they might work at McDonalds (she might be becoming a manager?). If they were professionals, they wouldn't be poor.

If you had been to the schools of the ghetto's, the biggest issue is that the people there don't value becoming productive members of society. They aren't trying to become engineers or even teachers, and their parents don't value those things. Rather, what is valued is living as close to the life of a rapstar as possible (often by selling drugs or their bodies) or dealing drugs or being a prosports player. Focusing on education isn't valued though. Becoming a doctor isn't 'valued. Being a productive member of society isnt' valued. And honestly, a lot of this is because their parents don't value that.

Now, this does need to be the case everywhere. From the factory/McDonalds, to the Hospital. If there are more people who value the things I refered to before, there would be less poor people. If well off parents had more children, wealth would be less concentrated. Note I am not discussing about the super wealthy (like the Hiltons). About the wealthiest I am talking about it Doctors.

Yeah and in toda'ys society the farmers kids aren't the backbone of the economy. Family business is a minority thing, not the main stream.

This is exactly what will bring the third world down, people breeding because they need their kids to be their insurance. But it's poverty and illness ridden, so it'll just make it worse for everyone in there. Would you go to a third world country and say breed more, that's the solution?

There are other measures to be taken to help children have more opportunities, this is a question of economy. You are directly putting rich kids and poor kids against each other, where rich kids should be valued more, because they have more opportunities and therefor have bigger chances to 'become good people'.

      That's ****ed up JM.
The problem in western society is that we aren't breeding enough though. The problem in the 3rd world isn't the number of children they have, it is that we in the first world allow our corporations to **** them over. Just giving people more money won't change their value system, europe and the US have shown that.

In these comments, 'bad' is unproductive, 'good' is productive. This does not refer to how they are as human beings.

You deny, Pekka, that kids of professionals are more likely to become productive members of society?

JM, you think I'll continue to discuss this when you have said all these things? I'll give you a test of your values, go and say what you just said to a black man.

You can't be a productive member of society by working at McDonalds? I mean people have to eat, right? And who is going to serve food to them? Unfortunately the children of professionals scoff at working at such jobs which are "beneath them" except during their teenage years. While those who may not have had the advantages others did may treat it as a stepping stone.

Anecdotally speaking, to me it seemed a lot of the people who worked in service jobs who were not as advantaged tended to take it a bit more seriously than the spoiled kids who generally goofed off a lot more and didn't care if they were fired because mommy and daddy took care of them anyway.

Just because you work at McD's doesn't make you an unproductive member of society. A society of only engineers and doctors isn't exactly feasible in our service economy (brings backs memories of the civilization in "The Restaurant at the End of Universe" which died out when shipping all of its service employees out in space).

Me too.. but I think we'd disagree on the terms, seeing as how I see you as being blind and a bit selfish here .
