The poor aren't professionals, generally, for example, they might work at McDonalds (she might be becoming a manager?). If they were professionals, they wouldn't be poor.
If you had been to the schools of the ghetto's, the biggest issue is that the people there don't value becoming productive members of society. They aren't trying to become engineers or even teachers, and their parents don't value those things. Rather, what is valued is living as close to the life of a rapstar as possible (often by selling drugs or their bodies) or dealing drugs or being a prosports player. Focusing on education isn't valued though. Becoming a doctor isn't 'valued. Being a productive member of society isnt' valued. And honestly, a lot of this is because their parents don't value that.
Now, this does need to be the case everywhere. From the factory/McDonalds, to the Hospital. If there are more people who value the things I refered to before, there would be less poor people. If well off parents had more children, wealth would be less concentrated. Note I am not discussing about the super wealthy (like the Hiltons). About the wealthiest I am talking about it Doctors.
