I'm assuming that the alleged Dems were encouraging the winos to vote, using the name of a registered voter who they knew wasn't going to show up.

Were they registered voters? BTW anecdotal evidence is no evidence at all.

Who said otherwise? I said several studies have shown that virtually all illegals won't vote illegally because they're afraid if they do register then the INS will come for them. Ergo they don't vote.

This is a regular and wide spread practice in the city. But I guess that doesn't really count as vote fraud
So winos aren't allowed to vote?

Last I heard the requirement that someone be a property owner to vote was done away with in the early 19th century.

Actually, if you don't have an address, you won't be able to vote, but they usually have some address so they can cash their disability checks.

I was just being snide. Most likely, they use these folks to vote as dead people. Chicago doesn't believe that death should keep you from voting. Still, the couple thousand extra votes in Illinois don't outweigh nearly 100,000 people losing their right to vote in Florida.

I'm neither Democrat nor Republican. I think both sides are scum. But its clear that the GOP has much more contempt for the right to vote than the Dems. That's what I care about.

The fact that the GOP has only been able to bring a handful of these cases to a successful trial speaks volumes.

Hell, that's what the whole ten fired DAs fiasco is all about. These GOP lawyers were fired for not prosecuting weak vote fraud cases, while DAs who did waste the public treasury on specious cases kept theirs. The evidence simply isn't there to support the claim that the Dems are just as bad as the GOP. That said, any Dem caught doing this stuff should have the book thrown at them.

Nope, that's why you have to examine the evidence. Some people don't like an honest look at the facts though which is why Republicans keep trying to muck with the Congressional Reports on Voter Suppression.

They were supposed to be bi-partisan with Congress and the President working together to solve national problems and insure that voting is done correctly and legally. The problem is Congressional Republicans and the Administration keep sidelining all the democrats, completely ignoring fully proved legal cases of voter suppression, and then forcing in supposed examples of voter fraud even though nearly a have dozen independent studies have all said they're bull****e. It's like dealing with Creationists who insist on continually lying.

The presidential election may have come and gone, but the divisiveness is here to stay. McCann and embattled city elections chief Lisa Artison have denied personal failures in dealing with election integrity.

                                excerpt

                                • When local television nabbed an out-of-state Democratic operative offering cigarettes to homeless people in Milwaukee to encourage them to vote in 2000, McCann decided against criminal charges and instead charged her with a civil small claims complaint. She paid a fine, even though it’s a felony to entice someone to vote by giving them something worth more than $1.
