the north and south "air" shafts leading from the inner chambers, the shafts explored by the little German robot, point to Orion and Draconis (I think). Draconis was the polar star at the time and the theory is that Pharaoh's soul traveled up the shaft to join the gods in Orion. As for the N-S-E-W alignment, that aint no big deal. They could have used the pole or a simple sun dial or something to mark the shadow as the sun passes mid-day.

So, the less difficult task is more impressive because fewer civs felt the need to do it?
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

How did they make the pyramids?

Why does the creation of the pyramids always needs some kind of 'intelligence' in any explanation?
Can't they just have formed through countless incidents and enginerical selection?

What do you mean? Just look how they evolved from flat rectangular grave buildings ("mastaba") which - when put one over another - formed a step pyramid (Djoser, Imhotep ) from which the idea of "perfect" pyramids like those we know from Giza was developed.

Yeah, the fossil pyramid record is incomplete. We'll surely discover more transitional fossil structures.
