Continue the Iraq discussion in this thread: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...hreadid=165593

I'll remove the content of my posts, if the other Iraq-debaters want to do the same.
I'm sorry for threadjacking your thread. I tried to stay within the topic and had the idea that you wanted to go this way anyway. I hope this settles the issue.

As for "revolutionary mindset" -- I dunno if we can speak of an outspoken mindset centuries after those revolutions took place (sure there are other more recent cases). Because after establishing their new rule (or form of rule/gov/whatever) the revolutionaries of the past would probably rather be interested in preserving what they achieved...
That's essentially where I was going with this.

Perhaps, because a majority of governments have been formed by revolutions, might there have be a greater emphasis placed on a laissez faire styled government than people might naturally tend to choose if they had not been exposed to corrupt, despotic, etc. governments?

It's not necessarily an idea I agree with, but I find it interesting to consider and play around with.

Norway, also. Granted, the transition from absolute monarchy (in union with Denmark) to constitutional monarchy (in union with Sweden) was in some way a byproduct of the Napoleonic Wars, but that is beside the point.
