The guy was creepy, kind of like you.

To be honest, my primary motivation is to freak out the more simple-minded of my college mates

That is a brilliant idea. I suggest you move to Virginia.

I haven't created anything yet. I'm just asking people around here as to whether or not doing something like that would be something weird.

But what makes you think I'm creepy?

The ones who are not simple-minded will know that I've only done a Google search on their name.

aneeshm, No. Depends though. Are these people your friends? If they are, then this is creepy and you need to get a life.

So depends. I have a map about the people I know in the field I am, like their business cards etc, I've googled them up further, also people I've met attending seminars, I've googled them up, the company they work for, their position. Basically I've mapped out a bit (not a lot, I stopped doing this a while ago since no time to do this), so say I need to make something happening, make moves, I know who I can call, who I can e-mail, if I have to say we met at blaablaablaa or we talked at blaablaablaa. Not total strangers though.

Not friends, just people I know, contacts.

aneeshm, just contacts? If it's possible business contacts, it's not creepy, it's smart if you ask me.

Yes, just contacts. Not strangers, not friends. And given that we're all in the same stream, it could come in useful later, too, if I felt the need, from a professional POV. But it has a lot of other uses, too. Fun is one of them.

Aneesh Mulye, eh? I checked you out on Google. I see you're a member of the Indian chapter of the triple L, the lingam lover's league. Didn't know you were a lingam worshipper.

But seriously, do it right or don't do it at all. You should document all the dirt you can about your collegues. If you have any problem with one of them, just threaten to spill the beans.

It could come in useful, though, I don't know how. Information is always useful.
Sounds like a bad case of ANS.

why would you want this info? or need it?

What jutification do you have to spend hours compiling all this?
