    I am deeply shocked. Last week I was thanking God I was born in Australia and not America when some loony went crazy with a gun, but now I am thanking God, Allah, Buddha, and the entire pantheon of Olympia I was not born in America.

      I can always tell it's your posts without reading who posted it, because you have nothing but random vitriol. A problematic childhood in Australia, I'm guessing.

          I've enjoyed the episodes I've seen. I'm not a big fan of Weaver's narration, but it doesn't ruin the show.

              In makes very little sense, since I've seen *many* nature shows narrated by Brits that weren't changed for the US audience. I'm sure some marketing flunky convinced Discovery communications it was a good move.

              edit: the really funny part was during one of the "making of" bits, a camera man with a (fairly mild, IMO) Scottish accent was given subtitles. Hilarious.

                  From the shark clip he sounds all right. I don't know why they got Weaver to do the narration for US broadcast.

                  I wonder if the DVD will have a narrator option.

                    Netflix shows Disc 1 shipping today, but it doesn't release until the 24th. Regardless, I can't wait.

                      The DVDs are published by BBC -- not discovery channel -- so it should be the brit.

                        I got the HD-DVD Disc 1 of Planet Earth from Netflix a while ago and finished watching it the other day. As I mentioned before, I hadn't seen the show before. There was a lot of 'hype' over the show, both from Poly as well as family, friends, etc. Without a doubt, the show has exceeded all of my expectations. Simply superb.

                        Watching this in full HD is the only way to go.

                              Getting rid os David Attenboroughs commentary is the single worst thing the US has ever done, ever.

                                This is the man who practically invented Natural History television, and is an eminent zoologist in addition to being one of TV's most experienced and lauded presenters.
